Summary:
The Auto Parts Front Dock Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient and organized operations of the front dock area within an auto parts distribution center or warehouse.
This role involves coordinating the receipt, inspection, storage, and distribution of auto parts, ensuring accuracy, safety, and timely processing.
The supervisor will manage a team of dock personnel, provide guidance, resolve issues, and collaborate with other departments to optimize the supply chain process.
Responsibilities:
1.
Team Management:
Supervise, train, and lead a team of front dock personnel.
Schedule shifts, assign tasks, and ensure adequate staffing for daily operations.
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and address any personnel issues.

Shipping and Documentation:
Oversee the loading of auto parts onto delivery vehicles, considering weight distribution, efficiency of space usage, and timely departure of fleet.
Verify shipping documentation and ensure orders are properly documented and labeled.
3.
Storage and Organization:
Direct the placement of auto parts into designated staging areas or bins.
Maintain a well-organized and efficient bin storage system to facilitate accuracy of orders.
Implement inventory control procedures to prevent discrepancies and losses.
4.
Receiving and Inspection:
Oversee the efficient receipt of incoming returns of auto parts.
Coordinate the inspection and verification of received parts for quality, condition and accuracy.
Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure timely stocking of returned products.
5.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as OSHA.
6.
Communication and Collaboration:
Liaise with other departments, such as inventory control, purchasing, and customer service, to facilitate seamless operations.
Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and vendors as necessary to resolve issues or coordinate logistics.
7.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and streamline processes.
Propose and implement process improvements to reduce errors and increase productivity.
8.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure that equipment used on the front dock, such as dock doors, gates, forklifts and pallet jacks, is properly maintained and serviced.
9.
Reporting:
Generate regular reports on productivity, inventory levels, and any operational challenges.
Provide performance metrics to upper management.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
Previous experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Proficiency in inventory management and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Knowledge of auto parts, their handling requirements, and quality standards.
Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance.
Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment (certification may be required).
