Assistant Controller
JOB DESCRIPTION
The assistant controller will work closely with the controller, ensuring timeliness of all job functions of the department are being carried out. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, within a team environment, and with little supervision. Bioworld is a very fast paced environment and the selected individual will be able to thrive in such an environment. The assistant controller will be comfortable managing direct reports, as well as giving presentation/information to executive level managers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
CPA preferred but not required for the position.
Previous supervisory experience required.
5 - 7 years of work experience within accounting.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Proficiency with computer systems, including report writing, Excel, outlook and power point.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO
Assisting the controller in the direction of the accounting functions of the organization.
Assisting him in ensuring timeliness and accuracy of the financial statements.
Preparation of budgets and financial reports and overseeing their evaluation.
Presenting various accounting reports to the top management and making suitable observations and recommendations.
Managing Subsidiary's books of accounts and ensuring that closing deadlines are being met.
Preventing inaccuracies in financial statements by setting up internal control systems and adopting proper policies for financial reporting.
Reviewing financial data periodically to ensure fairness and completeness of the data.
Conducting general ledger account reconciliations and analysis for the company.
Reconcile bank accounts and assist in the company's monthly and yearly closing.
Supervise royalty reporting, ensure compliance, cost efficiency and provide analysis on various business segments, locations and divisions.
Help coordinate the audit process with external auditors
Assisting in special projects whenever asked.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Bachelor's degree in accounting required, Master's degree and CPA - preferred.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
