Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting and guiding newly implemented customers with payroll processing and also is the first point of contact for configuration of pay components/reports in Workday. The primary responsibilities include Workday payroll configuration, payroll transition support for newly implemented customers, and escalated ticket triage in an outsourcing environment. The Payroll Specialist must be an expert in payroll, a customer advocate with an ability to think outside the box to problem solve for the customer and able to perform in a fast paced environment. The Payroll Specialists reports to the Payroll Supervisor. This is a tremendous opportunity for a skilled payroll professional who is dedicated to providing a superior customer facing experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and guidance to newly implemented customers on the Workday platform

  • Execute OSV Payroll Processing procedures

  • Payroll settlement services

  • Monitor tickets daily to ensure service level agreements and high customer satisfaction levels are being met

  • Create new earning/deduction pay components, period schedules, and run categories needed for payroll processing

  • Assist customers with configuration of pay components and reports

  • Testing new and/or existing configuration in Workday

  • Supporting customers to identify/resolve all issues related to payroll processing

  • Serve as mentors for Payroll Processors

  • Attend new customer transition introduction and go live meeting calls

  • Work on special projects as assigned by the Payroll Supervisor

Experience/Training Required:

  • 4+ years full service payroll experience

  • Fundamentals of Payroll certification or Certified Payroll Professional certification preferred

  • Team player

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously

  • Able to research independently using tools from Workday Community, BNA, IRS, and other payroll related websites

  • Detail oriented

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Able to work independently

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Able to embrace change

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
