Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC)

This Position is located in the Defense Security Services (DSS), Industrial Security Field Operations directorate. As a Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Serve as an Information Systems Security Professional (ISSP) within the Northern Region. - Perform cybersecurity activities including security control assessment in support of the Information Technology (IT) system authorization utilizing the Department of Defense Risk Management Framework (RMF) and exercise security oversight of cleared contractor information systems within the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). - Analyze, assess, evaluate, verify and validate contractor information system security plans, certification documentation for authorization and recommend the approval or disapproval to operate an Information System to the Regional Authorizing Official (RAO). - Develop and maintain security documentation and artifacts for Information Systems assigned and interface with industry security professionals to assess implemented security controls. - Enforce IT security control requirements, recommend configurations for information systems, telecommunications and networks and identify strategies to manage risk through mitigation of IT vulnerabilities, considering the rapidly evolving cybersecurity threat to IT systems. - Serve as spokesperson at conferences and training meetings to convey NISP and RMF implementation guidance and cybersecurity information relating to industrial security. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent):

Positions at GS-7 (or equivalent) and above require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Senior level knowledge of advanced information technology (IT) principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices relating to information systems security in order to function as the technical authority for information systems security issues, as well as, extensive knowledge of common computer operating systems, networking fundamentals and architecture, and network security devices. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
